Our Story

Rooted in simple joys.

Sparrow & Sprigs began with a simple idea:

Sometimes the smallest gestures carry the greatest meaning.

Like all of us, I have experienced many seasons of life—joy and loss, struggle and triumph, success and failure, love and sadness. I have watched the people I love walk through these seasons as well.

In those moments, I have often found myself searching for the right thing to say or do.

What can I say? What can I do? What can I give?

How do we show someone that we are celebrating with them? That we are grateful for them? That we believe in them? That we remember? That we understand their loss? That they are loved?

I can’t imagine I’m alone in asking those questions.

Giving has always been one of my greatest joys. I have long felt drawn to philanthropy, generosity, and the simple act of doing something for another person. And over time, I’ve come to believe that we often make those acts more complicated than they need to be.

We search for the perfect words, the perfect gift, the grand gesture—but the beautiful truth is that the simplest, most sincere gestures are often the ones that carry the greatest meaning.

Sometimes, all we really want to say is:

I thought of you.

That understanding became the beginning of Sparrow & Sprigs.

Coming Back to the Simple Things

We live in a world that makes it remarkably easy to stay connected, yet ironically, remarkably difficult to truly connect.

We move quickly. We communicate quickly. So much is available instantly and endlessly at our fingertips. And somewhere in all of that, it can become difficult to slow down—to be present with one another and with ourselves.

Through all the seasons of my own life, I have found myself returning again and again to gratitude.

Not only gratitude for the extraordinary things, but for the ordinary ones.

The people around the table. Something growing outside the door. A meal made for someone we love. A familiar fragrance. A kindness offered at exactly the right moment.

For me, gratitude has been a way of returning to what matters. It has made joyful seasons richer and difficult seasons a little gentler.

It is a practice of noticing the beauty that is already there.

And somewhere within all of these ideas, Sparrow & Sprigs began to take root.

The Meaning of Herbs

For centuries, herbs have carried meaning far beyond the garden.

Each has its own history, symbolism, and quiet way of saying something words sometimes cannot.

That idea immediately felt familiar to me.

Sometimes LOVE is exactly what we want to say. Sometimes COURAGE. Sometimes GRATITUDE. Sometimes REMEMBRANCE.

And suddenly, there was a beautiful way to give those sentiments something tangible and living.

At Sparrow & Sprigs, each herb is thoughtfully chosen for its meaning and paired with a botanical card that tells its story.

A thank you. An encouragement. A celebration. A new beginning. A remembrance.

A little something that says what sometimes we cannot.

Why Sparrow & Sprigs

Small and familiar, sparrows have long evoked simplicity, resilience, community, and the beauty found in ordinary things.

Sprigs are equally humble—small stems gathered from something larger, filled with fragrance, usefulness, memory, and meaning. For generations, they have been gathered from gardens, used in kitchens, tucked into bouquets, carried to celebrations, and passed from one home to another.

We especially love that some sparrows have been known to gather fresh aromatic plants and carry them back to their nests.

A tiny bird, intentionally gathering something from the garden and carrying it home.

There was something about that image that felt beautifully fitting.

Gathering. Carrying. Sharing. Sparrow & Sprigs.

More Than a Gift

A living herb isn’t simply something to receive. It is something to tend, use, gather from, and share.

A pot of rosemary from a wedding may find its way into Sunday dinner.

A little thyme given during a difficult season can become a quiet reminder of courage.

An herb received in remembrance may grow on a windowsill for years.

And one day, a sprig may be clipped and shared with someone else.

In that small way, the original gesture continues—from one person, table, or home to another.

Something gathered. Something given. Something that keeps growing.

Sparrow & Sprigs

My hope is that Sparrow & Sprigs makes it a little easier for us to show up for one another through all of life’s seasons—to celebrate, encourage, comfort, remember, and give thanks.

Not always with the perfect words or a grand gesture.

But with something thoughtfully chosen. Something living. Something that means something.

Small things, perhaps. But often the things we remember most.
